Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is considered the gold standard for couples therapy due to its high success rate and rigorous research backing. Based on attachment theory, EFT helps couples understand and change negative interaction cycles by focusing on emotional connection, fostering secure attachment, and improving communication. Through this process, partners learn how to access and express their vulnerable emotions, fostering greater empathy, trust, and intimacy.

If you're ready to improve communication and create a resilient partnership, EFT often provides couples the experience of feeling more understood, valued, and loved.

A Troubled Marriage Can Certainly Affect Your Mental Health, But It Is Not Considered a Mental Illness

Couples or marriage counseling is typically not covered by most standard insurance plans. As a private pay clinician for couples, you will be responsible for making full payment upfront. However, similar to other healthcare services, therapy is considered a medical expense, which may qualify as a tax write-off or be paid for using your pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). If appropriate, you may also receive some reimbursement from your out-of-network (OON) benefits if we choose to work with your insurance company.
